Software Usage Instructions

Select audio files: Click to select audio or drag files into the upload area. MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC, OPUS, and other formats are supported, with batch selection available.
Set silence detection parameters:
- Silence threshold: Set the decibel level below which audio is treated as silence. If the recording has high background noise, you can increase it to -40dB or -35dB.
- Silence detection duration: Set how long low volume must last before it is deleted, to avoid cutting out natural pauses in speech.
- Silence retention time: Keep a small pause at cut points to make speech transitions sound more natural.
Select processing range: You can delete silence throughout the entire audio, or only remove silence at the beginning and end. Full mode is recommended for interviews and course recordings, while start/end mode is recommended for music materials.
Configure output options: Keep the original format, or output uniformly as MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG, and other formats, and set the bitrate, sample rate, channels, audio tags, loudness normalization, and processing report.
Save settings: After clicking Save Settings, the tool will automatically use the current parameters the next time you open it.
Start processing: Go to the processing download page, click Start Removing Silence, and wait for the progress to complete.
Preview and download: After processing is complete, you can listen to the result, download a specific audio file, or click Download All Results ZIP to get the batch files.

FAQ

A: For quiet recordings, use -50dB to -55dB; for regular podcasts and interviews, use -45dB; for recordings with slight background noise, try -40dB or -35dB. It is recommended to process a short segment with the default value first, then adjust based on the listening result.

A: It determines how long a low-volume segment must last before it is treated as silence and deleted. If the value is too short, natural pauses may be cut out; if it is too long, more blank space will be retained. For speech content, you can usually start testing from 600ms to 1000ms.

A: Full silence processes long pauses in the middle of the audio, making it suitable for interviews, lectures, and meeting recordings. Start/end silence only trims the beginning and end, making it suitable for songs, background music, sound effects, and other materials where pauses in the middle should be preserved.

A: The threshold is usually set too high or the detection duration is too short. You can lower the threshold, for example from -35dB to -45dB, and increase the silence retention time so word endings and breathing sounds are preserved.

A: Result files use the original file names by default. If duplicate names occur, numbers are automatically added to the file names to distinguish them. After batch processing is complete, you can download all successful results as a ZIP package.

A: Large files use more memory and CPU. We recommend keeping the page open, reducing the number of heavy programs running at the same time, and processing long recordings in batches. If processing fails, try converting the file to MP3 or WAV first, then process it again.
