Software Usage Instructions

Set room information: In “Room Settings,” enter the room name, length, and width, or switch to direct area input; if there are areas that do not need flooring, such as cabinets or kitchen islands, enter the area to deduct.
Add multiple spaces: Click “Add Room” to enter multiple spaces such as the living room, bedroom, and hallway. The tool will automatically combine the net flooring area and the reference baseboard length.
Set flooring parameters: Select the flooring type and installation method, and check the length and width of each plank, pieces per box, waste rate, and spare pieces; for herringbone, chevron, diagonal, and similar installation methods, you can appropriately increase the waste rate.
Enter prices and accessories: You can choose pricing by square meter, by piece, or by box, and set costs for installation, baseboards, moisture-proof underlayment, door transition strips, and more.
Start calculating: Click “Next: Calculation Results” to view the flooring area, recommended number of pieces to purchase, number of full boxes, coverage area, material list, and total budget.
Save and export: Click “Save Settings” to keep commonly used parameters; the results page supports copying results, downloading a CSV table, and printing or saving as PDF.

FAQ

A: The tool first calculates the net flooring area, then converts it into the number of pieces based on the area of each flooring piece, the waste rate, and spare pieces; if full-box purchasing is selected, it will also round up according to the number of pieces per box.

A: For standard straight installation, a lower waste rate can be used; for solid wood flooring, diagonal installation, herringbone, chevron, many corners, or complex floor plans, it is recommended to increase the waste rate appropriately and confirm it with the installation plan.

A: You can divide an irregular room into multiple rectangular areas and add them separately, or switch to “Direct Area Input.” If there are columns, fixed cabinets, or other areas that do not need flooring, enter the area to deduct.

A: Flooring installation requires cutting, and offcuts are generated around edges, doorways, and patterned sections; if full-box purchasing is checked, the tool will also round up by the number of boxes, so a certain amount of surplus will be produced.

A: The results can include costs for the main flooring material, installation labor, baseboards, moisture-proof underlayment or floor mats, door transition strips, and more. Each price can be adjusted manually, making it easy to calculate the budget based on actual quotes.

A: It is recommended to check the actual flooring specifications, number of pieces per box, batch number, return and exchange policy, installation waste, and finishing plan. Packaging coverage varies by brand, so you should follow the seller’s stated information before purchasing.
