Software Usage Instructions

Select a container type: At the top of the page, you can choose a preset container (such as a 20-foot container, Euro pallet, etc.), or click "Custom Size" to manually enter the container's length, width, height, and load limit.
Add item information:
- Click "Quick Add" to choose from commonly used item templates
- Manually enter the item name, dimensions (L×W×H), weight, and quantity
- Set stacking restrictions (stackable/top layer only/no stacking) and rotation constraints
- Click the color picker to customize the display color of the item in the 3D view
Configure algorithm parameters:
- Packing algorithm: The MaxRects rectangle packing algorithm is recommended for higher utilization
- Rotation settings: Allowing items to rotate 90 degrees horizontally can improve packing efficiency
- Optimization goal: Choose to prioritize space utilization, reduce the number of containers, or prioritize stability
- Gravity constraints: Enable bottom support detection to ensure the packing plan is physically feasible
Start calculation: Click the "Start Calculating Packing Plan" button, and the system will automatically optimize the item layout.
View results: After the calculation is complete, you can view space utilization, the number of loaded/unloaded items, 3D visualization, and detailed packing steps.
Container comparison: Switch to the "Container Comparison" tab to compare the packing results of different container types and get a recommended plan.
Export results: Supports downloading text reports, Excel spreadsheets, 3D model files (OBJ format), and detailed packing operation instructions.

FAQ

A: MaxRects rectangle packing achieves efficient filling by maintaining a list of available spaces and is suitable for most scenarios; the Guillotine cutting method simulates the cutting process to allocate space; the BFD decreasing-volume method sorts items by volume from largest to smallest and places them in order; Layer-based packing places items in layers by height and is suitable for regular-shaped items. In general, the MaxRects algorithm can achieve higher space utilization.

A: The system supports three stacking modes: Stackable allows other items to be placed on top of the item; Top layer only means the item can only be placed on the top; No stacking means no items can be placed above it. At the same time, after setting the container load limit, the system will automatically check whether the total weight exceeds the limit, and overweight items cannot be loaded.

A: Gravity constraints ensure that the packing plan is physically feasible. Bottom support required means the bottom of an item must have sufficient support area (at least 60%) to prevent it from being suspended; Allow partial overhang relaxes the support requirement; Ignore gravity completely disregards support issues and is suitable for theoretical calculations or special packaging materials.

A: First add the item information in the "Single Packing Calculation" tab, then switch to the "Container Comparison" tab, select the container types you want to compare (such as 20 ft container, 40 ft container, etc.), and click "Start Container Comparison". The system will calculate the packing results for each container and sort them by recommendation score, helping you choose the appropriate container.

A: In the 3D visualization area, you can use mouse drag to rotate the viewing angle and the scroll wheel to zoom the view. The control buttons in the upper-right corner can quickly switch to top view, front view, side view, or reset the viewing angle. Cubes in different colors represent different items, and the container is shown as a dashed frame. When there are multiple containers, you can switch between them using the container selection buttons.

A: Possible reasons why items are not loaded include: 1) the item dimensions exceed the container dimensions; 2) the remaining space is not sufficient to accommodate the item; 3) there is not enough bottom support when gravity constraints are enabled; 4) the container weight limit has been reached; 5) the container quantity limit has been reached. You can try increasing the number of containers, using a larger container, adjusting item dimensions, or modifying the algorithm parameters.

A: CSV, Excel (.xlsx/.xls), and JSON formats are supported. The file should include the following fields: container_length (container length), container_width (container width), container_height (container height), container_weight_limit (weight limit), item_name (item name), item_length (item length), item_width (item width), item_height (item height), item_weight (item weight), quantity (quantity), stackable (stacking settings), color (color).
