Software Usage Instructions

Select the calculation mode: After entering the tool, first choose “Single Calculation” or “Batch Calculation.” Single Calculation is suitable for quickly finding mass, density, or volume; Batch Calculation is suitable for processing multiple sets of material parameters.
Select the value to solve for:
- Find mass: Enter density and volume, and calculate mass using the formula m = ρ × V.
- Find density: Enter mass and volume, and calculate density using the formula ρ = m ÷ V.
- Find volume: Enter mass and density, and calculate volume using the formula V = m ÷ ρ.
Set material and units: You can select reference materials such as water, steel, aluminum, concrete, gold, and air to automatically fill in density, or manually enter density. Mass, density, and volume can all be switched between common metric and imperial units.
Set result precision: Choose the number of decimal places as needed. The tool will display the formula, main result, and common unit conversion results simultaneously.
Use batch calculation:
- Table input: Fill in the name, item to solve for, mass, density, volume, and result unit row by row.
- CSV text: Paste CSV data to calculate directly, or import it into the table for further editing.
- CSV file: You can select multiple CSV or TXT files for processing. The interface displays the first 20 files, while the calculation will process all files.
Export results: After batch calculation is complete, you can download a merged CSV; when processing multiple files, you can download a ZIP. Result file names will be kept as consistent with the original files as possible, and numbers will be automatically added to distinguish duplicate names.
Save settings: Click “Save Settings” to save commonly used units, materials, and precision, so you can continue using them the next time you open the tool.

FAQ

A: The relationship between the three is m = ρ × V. If mass and volume are known, density can be found; if mass and density are known, volume can be found; if density and volume are known, mass can be found.

A: The densities in the material library are common reference values, suitable for estimates and educational calculations. In actual engineering, factors such as material purity, moisture content, temperature, and compaction state can affect density, so it is recommended to adjust them according to test data or design documents.

A: The recommended headers are: Name, Calculation Type, Mass, Mass Unit, Density, Density Unit, Volume, Volume Unit, Result Unit. The old format is also supported: Density, Volume, Density Unit, Volume Unit. The old format will be processed as “Calculate Mass”.

A: The tool first converts input units to standard base units before calculating. For example, density is converted to kg/m³, volume to m³, and mass to kg, so units such as g/cm³, L, cm³, and lb/ft³ can be mixed.

A: After you select a preset material, the tool automatically fills in the corresponding reference density based on the current density unit. If you switch the density unit, the value is converted accordingly, representing the same density in a different unit format.

A: During multi-file batch processing, result files will retain the original file names as much as possible. If duplicate names are encountered, a number will be added after the file name, such as data.csv and data(2).csv, to make the source easy to distinguish.

A: Mass represents the amount of matter an object contains, commonly measured in kg, g, and t; weight is the force produced by gravity acting on an object, commonly measured in N. This tool calculates mass.
