Software Usage Instructions

Set basic parameters:Select the unit of measurement, and enter the total stair height, tread depth, target riser height, stair width, and headroom height. Total height and tread depth are required.
Select design conditions:Choose a straight staircase, L-shaped staircase, U-shaped staircase, or spiral staircase based on the project, and select the reference standard and usage scenario.
Complete safety and material parameters:Set the tread thickness, handrail height, and baluster clear spacing. You can choose to fix the riser height or include tread thickness in the material estimate.
Calculate stair dimensions:Click “Calculate Stair Dimensions” to view the number of risers, number of treads, actual riser height, total tread run, stair angle, stringer length, comfort level, and material estimate.
View option comparison:Go to the “Calculation Results” page and click “Generate Option Comparison” to compare height, angle, comfort level, and code notes for adjacent riser counts.
Batch calculation:Go to the “Batch & Records” page, paste CSV data or select a CSV/TXT file. Fill in each row in the order of “total height, tread depth, target riser height, width, headroom”.

FAQ

A: Residential stairs commonly use a riser height of about 150-175mm and a tread depth of about 260-300mm. The tool provides prompts based on the selected standard and scenario, and uses the 2R+T formula to help determine whether the walking rhythm is balanced.

A: The number of risers represents the number of vertical divisions and is calculated by dividing the total height by the single riser height. The number of treads is usually one less than the number of risers and is used to calculate the total tread run. The tool displays both results for easy design verification.

A: Common stair slopes are generally between 25°-45°, with residential scenarios often using about 28°-36°. For age-friendly scenarios, a gentler slope range is recommended, and the tool will provide prompts based on the selected scenario.

A: Plan comparison generates adjacent plans based on the current number of risers, showing step height, total tread length, stair angle, comfort level, and code notes for different numbers of risers, making it easier to choose a more suitable size combination.

A: Material quantities are theoretical estimates and include data such as tread area, riser area, stringer side board area, and handrail length. Actual purchasing should also take into account construction drawings, material waste, finishing details, and on-site dimension verification.
