Software Usage Instructions
- Select a calculation mode: Choose “Single Calculation,” “Batch Calculation,” or “Export Results” at the top of the tool. It is recommended to confirm the parameters in Single Calculation before batch processing.
- Set the calculation target:
- Internal volume: Calculates the volume a pipe can hold based on inner diameter, length, quantity, and fill rate.
- Pipe wall volume: Calculates the volume of the pipe material itself based on outer diameter, inner diameter, or wall thickness, and can estimate weight by density.
- Enter pipe parameters:
- Known inner diameter: Enter the inner diameter, length, and quantity to calculate the internal volume.
- Outer diameter + wall thickness: Enter the outer diameter and wall thickness, and the tool will automatically convert them to the inner diameter.
- Outer diameter + inner diameter: Suitable for calculating the wall volume of hollow pipes.
- Fill rate: Used for internal volume calculation to estimate the liquid volume when the pipe is not full.
- Density: Used to estimate the corresponding weight of water, oil, steel, aluminum, and other materials.
- View conversion results: After clicking “Calculate Volume,” you can view results in units such as cubic meters, liters, cubic centimeters, milliliters, cubic feet, cubic inches, US gallons, and imperial gallons.
- Batch calculation: Supports pasting multiple lines of data in optional formats such as “inner diameter,length,quantity,” “outer diameter,wall thickness,length,quantity,” or “outer diameter,inner diameter,length,quantity.” Each line is one data set and can be separated by commas, spaces, tabs, etc.
- Batch file processing: You can select CSV, TXT, XLSX, or XLS files for batch calculation. The interface only previews the first 20 records or first 20 files; the processing results will include the complete data.
- Export results: Single results can be copied or downloaded as TXT; batch results can be downloaded as CSV, or as a ZIP archive containing a summary report and results for each file.
- Save settings: Click “Save Settings” to keep commonly used units, density, output units, and batch parameters for continued use next time.
Frequently Asked Questions
A: Internal volume calculates the volume of space inside the pipe that can hold liquid or gas, usually using the inner diameter and length; pipe wall volume calculates the material volume of the pipe itself and requires the outer diameter and inner diameter, or the outer diameter and wall thickness.
A: Inner diameter = outer diameter - 2 × wall thickness. For example, if the outer diameter is 114mm and the wall thickness is 4mm, the inner diameter is 106mm. The wall thickness cannot be greater than or equal to half of the outer diameter; otherwise, the inner diameter is invalid.
A: Commas, Chinese commas, spaces, tabs, semicolons, and vertical bars are supported as delimiters. Enter one set of pipe data per line; header rows will be skipped automatically.
A: The pipe wall volume equals the outer cylinder volume minus the inner cylinder volume. If the outer diameter is less than or equal to the inner diameter, the pipe wall thickness is invalid and the calculation result has no engineering significance.
A: The fill rate is used to estimate the proportion of the internal volume actually occupied by liquid. For example, a full pipe is 100%, and a half-full pipe can be entered as 50%. The pipe wall volume calculation is not affected by the fill rate.
A: Weight = volume × density. For calculating water capacity, use 1000kg/m³; for calculating the weight of steel pipe material, use 7850kg/m³. You can also enter a custom density based on the actual material.
Answer: The ZIP package includes a summary results CSV, a summary report TXT, and calculation result files generated using the original file names. If duplicate file names are encountered, a number will be automatically added to the file name to distinguish them.
