Software Usage Instructions

Select a data source: You can use three methods: table input, paste data, or file import. Table mode is suitable for small amounts of categorical data, paste mode is suitable for copying content from Excel or CSV, and file import mode supports CSV, XLSX, and XLS data files.
Prepare the data content:
- Table input: Fill in the category name, value, and optional color. Adding rows, deleting rows, clearing data, and loading sample data are supported.
- Paste data: Paste content in the format “Category,Value,Color”. The color column can be left blank.
- File import: Enter category names in column A and values in column B. The first row can be a header, and color values can be entered in column C.
Set chart parameters:
- Rose chart mode: You can choose area mode or radius mode.
- Display settings: You can control the legend, labels, values, percentages, and scale rings.
- Canvas settings: You can adjust the width, height, center spacing, sector spacing, unit, and decimal places.
- Theme colors: You can choose preset color schemes or set the background color and text color separately.
Save settings: After clicking “Save Settings”, the current style parameters will be saved on the current device and can be used again the next time you open it.
Generate chart: Go to the “Generate & Export” step and click “Generate Chart”. The page will generate a Nightingale rose chart based on the data and parameters.
Export results: A single chart can be downloaded as PNG, SVG, or PDF. After batch file processing is complete, you can click “Download All Results” to get a ZIP archive.

FAQ

A: A Nightingale rose chart, also known as a coxcomb chart or polar area chart, uses sector radius or area to represent categorical values. It is suitable for displaying category comparisons, cyclical data, and report-style visualizations.

A: Area mode keeps each sector at the same angle and expresses values through differences in area. Radius mode expresses values through the length of each sector’s radius. Use area mode to highlight category differences, or radius mode to emphasize radius changes.

A: CSV, XLSX, and XLS files are supported. Enter category names in column A and values in column B; the first row may be a header; column C can contain color values, such as #0f766e.

A: Yes. File import mode supports selecting multiple data files at once. The page only displays the first 20 files, but all files will be processed during generation and the results will be packaged as a ZIP download.

A: PNG, SVG, and PDF formats are supported. PNG is suitable for image use, SVG for vector editing, and PDF for document layout and printing.

A: Please check whether category names are empty, whether the value column contains non-numeric content, whether the file is corrupted, and whether there are fewer than 2 valid data entries. During batch processing, failed files will not prevent other files from being generated.

A: We recommend limiting the number of categories, using short category names, choosing clearly contrasting colors, and enabling labels, values, or percentages as needed. For reports, you can increase the canvas size and export scale as appropriate.
