Software Usage Instructions

Set basic data: Enter the chart title, value unit, Y-axis label, and starting value, and choose whether to display the starting value and final total as needed.
Select a sample template: Use templates such as cash flow, profit composition, budget variance, and sales breakdown to quickly fill in data, or manually add, delete, and edit data rows.
Enter data items:
- Increase: Indicates data such as revenue, growth, savings, and gains that increase the cumulative value.
- Decrease: Indicates data such as costs, expenses, discounts, and taxes that decrease the cumulative value.
- Subtotal: Used to show the current cumulative result at a certain stage.
- Notes: Add data descriptions and choose whether to display them in the style settings.
Adjust chart style: Set the chart width and height, font size, value format, increase item color, decrease item color, total color, connector line color, background color, and grid color.
Configure display options: Choose to show value labels, connector lines, grid lines, legend, notes, and rounded bars to better fit reports or presentations.
Generate and download: Click “Generate Waterfall Chart” to preview the chart. You can download it in PNG, JPG, SVG, or PDF format, or export JSON data.
Save settings: Click “Save Settings” to save the current data and style, and use “Load Settings” later to continue.
Batch generation: Upload a CSV or TXT file and organize the data in the column order of “Item Name, Value, Type, Notes”. The system will generate charts in batches and package them as a ZIP download.

A: Waterfall charts are suitable for showing how a starting value becomes a final result after multiple increases and decreases. They are commonly used for cash flow analysis, profit composition, budget variance, sales contribution, cost breakdown, and explanations of changes in operating metrics.

A: Increase raises the cumulative value and is suitable for items such as revenue, gains, and savings; Decrease lowers the cumulative value and is suitable for items such as costs, expenses, and discounts; Subtotal is used to show the cumulative result at the current stage.

A: The starting value is the baseline of the waterfall chart. For cash flow analysis, you can enter the opening balance; for budget analysis, the budget amount; for profit breakdowns, it is usually set to 0, then the final value is obtained through revenue, cost, and expense items.

A: It is recommended to organize the CSV as “Item Name, Value, Type, Notes”. The type can be positive, negative, total, or increase, decrease, subtotal. You can also use rows such as title, start, and unit to set the chart title, starting value, and unit.
