Instructions
Software Usage Instructions
- Select conversion mode: Single conversion is suitable for quickly converting one speed value; batch conversion is suitable for processing multiple lines of speed data at once.
- Enter the speed value: Enter the speed value in the input box. Decimals, negative numbers, and scientific notation are supported; in batch mode, enter one speed value per line.
- Select the source unit and target unit: Supports units such as meters/second, kilometers/hour, miles/hour, feet/second, feet/minute, knots, Mach, fraction of the speed of light, minutes/kilometer, minutes/mile, and more.
- Set display parameters: You can choose smart precision, fixed decimal places, thousand separators, scientific notation, and copy format.
- Set the Mach reference temperature: When converting Mach, you can set the reference temperature in Celsius, Fahrenheit, or Kelvin, and the tool will calculate the result based on changes in the speed of sound.
- Start conversion: Click the “Start conversion and proceed to the next step” button to view the main result, results for all units, and the batch table.
- Copy and export: You can click an individual result to copy it, or copy all results or download a CSV file; for frequently used settings, click “Save settings” to keep them on the current device.
Frequently Asked Questions
A: To convert kilometers/hour to meters/second, divide by 3.6; to convert meters/second to kilometers/hour, multiply by 3.6. For example, 120km/h ÷ 3.6 = 33.333m/s.
A: A knot is a speed unit commonly used in navigation and aviation. 1 knot equals 1 nautical mile/hour, also equals 1.852 kilometers/hour, and is approximately equal to 0.514444 meters/second.
A: Miles/hour uses imperial length units, while kilometers/hour uses metric length units. 1mph equals 1.609344km/h, and 60mph is approximately equal to 96.56064km/h.
A: Mach number depends on the speed of sound, and the speed of sound in air changes with temperature. The tool calculates the meters per second corresponding to Mach 1 based on the reference temperature, then converts it to units such as kilometers per hour and miles per hour.
A: Pace indicates the time required to complete a fixed distance. For example, 5:00 min/km means 5 minutes per kilometer, which corresponds to a speed of 12km/h. The faster the speed, the lower the pace value.
A: Enter one speed value per line, such as “120 km/h”, “55 mph”, “25 knot”, “12 m/s”, “5:00 min/km”, or “Mach 0.82”. If no unit is specified, the default source unit in batch mode will be used.
A: When values are very large or very small, scientific notation makes the results easier to read. You can also switch to regular numbers or thousands separator format in “Number Format”.
