Software Usage Instructions

Select a function mode: Choose from four modes: steganographic embedding, information extraction, detection analysis, or steganography removal.
Enter content: In text mode, you can paste content directly; in file mode, you can batch-select text files such as TXT, MD, CSV, JSON, HTML, and XML.
Configure parameters: Choose two-character, three-character, four-character, or compatible four-character encoding; when embedding, you can set uniform distribution, punctuation-based distribution, beginning of text, or end of text.
Set security options: You can enable integrity verification, message compression, and AES-GCM password encryption; when extracting encrypted content, you must enter the same password.
Start processing: Click “Start Processing” to view the results. You can copy or download TXT files. Batch files will be packaged as a ZIP and retain the original file names; duplicate file names will automatically have numbers appended.
View detection and cleanup results: Detection mode displays the number, types, and position preview of invisible characters; cleanup mode removes zero-width characters, directional control characters, and variation selectors according to the settings.

FAQ

A: Zero-width characters are invisible formatting characters in Unicode, such as U+200B, U+200C, and U+200D. The tool encodes secret information into these characters and inserts them into normal text. The text looks basically unchanged, but it contains extractable information.

A: It is recommended to use the same encoding method. If you are unsure of the encoding, enable “Auto-detect encoding” during extraction. If password encryption or compression was enabled during embedding, you must also keep the corresponding options enabled during extraction and enter the correct password.

A: Detection mode identifies common zero-width characters, directional control characters, variation selectors, and some invisible formatting characters, and displays their Unicode codes, types, counts, and position previews, making it easier to determine whether the text contains traces of steganography or watermarks.

A: Cleanup mode mainly removes invisible characters and usually does not change visible text content. However, some languages, emoji combinations, or special typography may rely on zero-width joiners, so it is recommended to check the detection results before processing important text.

A: Batch processing will preserve the original file names as much as possible and package all results into a ZIP file. If multiple files have the same name, the tool will append numbers to the file names to distinguish them, such as document.txt and document(1).txt.

A: Most editors and messaging tools that support Unicode can preserve zero-width characters, but some platforms may filter out invisible characters. When using this for watermarking or tracing, it is recommended to first test whether copying, saving, and re-extraction work properly on the target platform.
