Software Usage Instructions

Select an input method: Choose document files, paste text, or use sample data. Document files support batch selection and drag-and-drop adding.
Add content to count: Supports formats such as TXT, MD, CSV, HTML, RTF, DOCX, PDF, PPTX, XLSX, XLS, ODT, EPUB, and SRT. When adding files in batches, the interface only lists the first 20 files, but all selected files will be included in the statistics.
Configure counting settings:
- Main word count method: Choose Chinese character count, non-whitespace character count, total character count, or Chinese characters plus English words.
- Punctuation statistics: Choose Chinese and English punctuation, Chinese punctuation, or do not count punctuation separately.
- Processing parameters: Set the number of parallel processes, recommended limit per file, number of characters for detail preview, and number of history records.
- Export content: Choose per-file TXT reports, CSV summary table, JSON data, and extracted text.
Save settings: Click the “Save Settings” button to keep commonly used counting methods and export options for next time.
Start counting: Go to the “Start Processing” tab, confirm the prompt information, and click “Start Counting”. The page will display the processing progress.
View results: After processing is complete, you will be taken to the results page, where you can view data such as file name, main word count, Chinese characters, English words, numbers, punctuation, lines, and paragraphs. Click a table row to view details and a text preview.
Export and download: Export a CSV summary table or download a ZIP archive. The ZIP can include per-file reports, CSV summary, JSON data, and extracted text.

FAQ

A: Common formats such as TXT, MD, CSV, HTML, RTF, DOCX, PDF, PPTX, XLSX, XLS, ODT, EPUB, and SRT are supported. The older DOC format is not currently supported; it is recommended to convert it to DOCX before counting.

A: Chinese characters are identified by Unicode Chinese character ranges, including common Chinese characters, extended Chinese characters, and Traditional Chinese characters. English letters, numbers, and punctuation are not included in the Chinese character count.

A: The tool extracts copyable text from PDFs. Scanned PDFs are mainly made up of images and usually require OCR recognition before word counting.

A: The tool automatically detects common encodings such as UTF-8, GBK, GB18030, and Big5. If the content still displays incorrectly, you can first use a file encoding conversion tool to convert the text to UTF-8.

A: The per-file reports in the ZIP archive will use the original file names with a TXT suffix appended. If files have the same name, a number will be added after the file name to distinguish them.

A: No. Document reading, text extraction, word counting, and result export are all completed on the current device, and file content will not be uploaded to the server.
