Software Usage Instructions

Set file specifications: Enter the number of files, individual file size, and size unit. You can choose a quick preset as a starting point, then adjust the parameters based on your test scenario.
Select file content:
- Random binary: Generates random byte content, suitable for upload, transfer, and boundary testing.
- Zero-byte padding: Generates fixed zero-value content, suitable for disk usage and capacity sample testing.
- Repeating pattern: Fills files by looping the specified text, making it easy to create recognizable test content.
- Readable text: Generates text files with line numbers and placeholders, suitable for logs, TXT samples, and text processing workflow testing.
Set naming rules:
- Random naming: Generates file names based on the specified length and character range.
- Numeric numbering: Set the starting number, increment, zero-padding digits, and separator.
- Custom template: Use {{prefix}}, {{num}}, {{index}}, {{random}}, {{date}}, and {{time}} to combine file names.
Configure output options: Set the file extension, ZIP file name, directory inside the ZIP, compression method, and file manifest. If duplicate names occur, numbers will be appended automatically to distinguish them.
Preview generated results: The tool will display the first 20 file names, sizes, and paths. If the number of files exceeds 20, the download package will still include all files.
Generate and download: Click “Generate ZIP” and wait for processing to complete, then click “Download ZIP” to save all generated files. You can click “Save Settings” to keep frequently used parameters.

A: It is suitable for scenarios such as file upload limit testing, API boundary testing, disk usage testing, transfer speed testing, and batch file workflow testing. You can quickly create test files with a specified quantity and size.

A: Random binary is closer to real random data; zero-byte padding generates faster; repeating pattern makes file content easier to identify; readable text is suitable for text, logs, and batch processing tests.

A: To keep the page running smoothly, the preview area only displays the first 20 files. All files will be processed during generation and download, and the ZIP archive will include the complete results.

A: Large files use more memory and computing resources. We recommend validating the workflow with small files first, then gradually increasing the file size. If the total size is large, generate files in batches to reduce the load of a single operation.

A: The tool automatically detects duplicate file names and appends a numeric suffix according to your settings, such as “file(2)”, “file-2”, or “file_2”, to prevent later generated files from overwriting earlier ones.

A: We recommend using Automatic. Random binary data is usually hard to compress, so automatic mode tends to package only; zero-filled files, repeated content, and text files are better suited for DEFLATE compression.

Answer: The file list records each file’s sequence number, file name, path, byte size, and content pattern, making it easy to verify batch generation results and to use in subsequent test reports or process records.
