Software Usage Instructions

Import images: Click the “Select Images” area, or drag and drop images into the upload area. Common image formats such as JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, and GIF are supported, and you can select multiple files in batches.
Select a color mode:
- Automatic color picking: Automatically extracts two representative colors based on the dark and light areas of the image, suitable for quickly generating results.
- Custom colors: Manually set the dark color and light color, suitable for brand colors, posters, and print scenarios.
- Preset color schemes: Quickly choose from built-in two-color schemes, and continue to fine-tune them manually if needed.
Adjust conversion parameters:
- Brightness threshold: Controls the distribution ratio of dark and light colors in the image.
- Contrast: Enhances or reduces the boundaries between dark and light areas, making image layers clearer or softer.
- Midtones: Adjusts the grayscale mapping relationship to improve conversion results for images that are too dark or too bright.
- Mapping method: Generate based on brightness or color distance.
Set dithering effects:
- Dithering algorithm: Supports algorithms such as Floyd-Steinberg, Atkinson, Burkes, Stucki, Jarvis, Sierra, and Bayer.
- Dithering strength: Controls grain and detail retention. The higher the strength, the more obvious the texture.
- No dithering: Suitable for images that require clean color blocks and silhouette effects.
Configure output options:
- Output format: Keep the original extension, or export as PNG, JPEG, or WebP.
- Output quality: Used to control JPEG and WebP compression quality.
- Output size: Keep the original size, scale down proportionally, or set a maximum long edge.
- Transparent areas: Keep transparency, or fill with the dark color or light color.
Preview and process: Click “Preview First Image” to view the effect with the current parameters. After confirming, click “Generate Two-Color Images” to batch process all images.
Download results: After processing is complete, previews of the first 20 results will be displayed. Click “Download All Results ZIP” to get all processed images. Output file names will be kept as close to the original file names as possible, and numbers will be appended automatically to distinguish duplicate names.

FAQ

A: Regular black-and-white images usually use only black, white, or grayscale levels. Two-color images map dark and light areas to two specified colors, creating duotone, binarized, vintage print, and poster-style effects.

A: If you want to quickly get a result close to the feel of the original image, use automatic color picking. If you need consistent brand colors, print colors, or a fixed visual style, we recommend using custom colors or preset color schemes.

A: A dithering algorithm spreads brightness errors to surrounding pixels, allowing an image with only two colors to retain some tonal depth and detail. Portraits, gradients, and images with rich textures are usually well suited for dithering.

A: Floyd-Steinberg is suitable for general images; Atkinson has lighter grain and is good for a retro pixel style; Burkes, Stucki, and Jarvis are good for preserving detail; Sierra offers a good balance between detail and noise; Bayer is suitable for regular dot patterns and print-like effects.

A: Two-color conversion compresses the original image colors into two colors, so more obvious edges are normal. You can enable dithering, reduce the range of threshold changes, adjust the midtones, or choose two colors that more closely match the light-dark relationship of the original image.

A: The tool will try to preserve the original file names. If multiple processed files result in the same name, a number will be automatically appended to the file name to avoid overwriting images with the same name.

A: PNG is suitable for preserving transparent areas and sharp edges; JPEG is suitable for photo-like images and usually has a smaller file size; WebP is suitable for web use and offers flexible balance between quality and file size.

A: Large images and batch processing use more memory. You can set a maximum long side, reduce the output size, process files in batches, or preview the first image to confirm the settings before batch generation.
