Software Usage Instructions

Set detection parameters: First enter the screen diagonal size in inches, system display scaling, and device notes; if you are not sure of the screen size, you can leave it blank, and the tool will estimate the PPI based on common sizes.
Select a usage scenario: You can choose design and screenshots, web adaptation, or monitor identification, and the tool will generate corresponding report prompts based on the purpose.
Start detection: Click “Next: Start Detection” or “Refresh Detection” to view the total screen resolution, available resolution, viewport size, physical pixel estimate, DPR, color depth, and screen orientation.
View detailed parameters: On the detection information page, check data such as aspect ratio, resolution level, megapixels, PPI, number of touch points, and system platform.
Multi-screen detection: To view information for multiple monitors, click “Try to read multi-screen information”. If the current environment does not support it or authorization has not been granted, the tool will keep the current screen detection result.
Save settings: Click “Save Settings” to save the screen size in inches, scaling ratio, device notes, and usage scenario for continued detection later.
Export report: After entering the “Report Export” page, you can copy the summary, copy JSON, or download JSON and CSV report files.

FAQ

A: System scaling, page zoom, the taskbar, and display mode can all affect the detected result. The tool displays the total screen resolution, available resolution, and viewport size at the same time for easy comparison.

A: Available resolution is the screen area that a page or application can use after excluding system interface elements such as the taskbar and menu bar. It is usually smaller than the total screen resolution.

A: DPR indicates the ratio of physical pixels to CSS pixels. High-density screens usually have a DPR greater than 1, which is used to determine screenshot size, image clarity, and page adaptation.

A: PPI needs to be calculated using the resolution and the physical screen size in inches. If the actual size is not entered, the tool estimates it based on common sizes, so the result is for reference. Entering the actual size will make it closer to the device specifications.

A: Move the current window to the display you want to test, then click “Refresh Detection”. If your device and permissions support it, you can also click “Try reading multi-screen information” to view data for multiple screens.

A: Screen resolution represents the overall size returned by the display device, while viewport size represents the size of the current page content area. Window size, zoom level, and scrollbars can all affect the viewport size.
