Software Usage Instructions
This tool provides two conversion modes: single conversion and batch conversion.
Single Conversion Mode:
- Select "Single Conversion" mode
- Enter an octal number in the input box (e.g., 755, 644, 1234)
- When "Real-Time Conversion" is enabled, the result will be displayed automatically; otherwise, click the "Start Conversion" button
- You can customize the output format through the conversion options
Batch Conversion Mode:
- Select "Batch Conversion" mode
- Enter one octal number per line in the text box
- Click "Load Example" to quickly fill in sample data
- Click "Start Conversion" to process in batches
- Supports batch conversion of up to 1000 numbers
Conversion Options:
- Uppercase Hexadecimal Letters: Controls the case of the A-F letters in the result
- Show 0x Prefix: Adds the "0x" identifier before the hexadecimal result
- Real-Time Conversion: Automatically converts as you type, without clicking a button
- Also Show Decimal: Additionally displays the corresponding decimal value in the result
After conversion, you can copy the result or download it as a text file for saving.
FAQ
Octal is a base-8 number system that uses only the 8 digits 0-7. It is commonly used in computer systems to represent file permissions, such as 755 for file permission settings.
Octal numbers can only contain the digits 0-7; 8 and 9 are not valid octal digits. Please check whether the entered number complies with octal rules.
The system will automatically skip invalid inputs and mark the reason for failure in the results. Valid numbers will be converted normally, while invalid ones will show an error status.
Yes. For single conversions, you can copy the result. Batch conversions support copying and downloading. The downloaded file contains the complete conversion records and statistics.
You can control the output format with the "Uppercase hexadecimal letters" option. Selecting this option displays A-F in uppercase; clearing it displays them in lowercase.
The 0x prefix is the standard notation for hexadecimal numbers and is used to clearly indicate that the value is a hexadecimal number. This format is commonly used in programming.
After enabling "Real-time conversion", the conversion result will be displayed immediately as you enter numbers in the input box, without needing to click the conversion button. If this feature is disabled, you need to manually click "Start conversion".
