Software Usage Instructions

Select video files: Click the “Select Video” area or drag files into the upload area. You can select multiple videos at once. Common formats such as MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, WMV, FLV, and M4V are supported. The interface only displays the first 20 files, but the remaining files will be processed as well.
Set silence detection parameters:
- Silence threshold: Audio below this decibel value will be recognized as silence. For voice narration, try values between -38dB and -32dB.
- Minimum silence length: Only silence longer than this duration will be removed, which helps avoid accidentally deleting brief pauses.
- Silence padding: Keeps a small buffer at the beginning and end of silent segments to make cuts feel more natural.
- Minimum kept segment length: Non-silent segments that are too short will be skipped to reduce visual jump cuts.
- Merge interval: Adjacent kept segments will be automatically merged when the gap between them is small, reducing fragmented cuts.
Use analysis preview: Click “Analyze First Video” to view the number of detected silent segments, estimated duration to remove, number of kept segments, and estimated output duration, then fine-tune the parameters based on the results.
Configure output settings:
- Output format: You can keep the source format or output as MP4, WebM, MOV, or MKV.
- Video quality: Choose high quality, medium quality, or small size based on your image quality and file size needs.
- Encoding speed: Choose from faster, balanced, or detailed modes.
- Resolution: Keep the source resolution, or limit it to 1080p, 720p, or 480p.
- Audio bitrate: Set it to 128kbps, 160kbps, 192kbps, or 256kbps.
- Additional options: Supports preserving metadata, MP4 playback optimization, adding a processing report, and ZIP compression.
Start removing silence: Go to the “Process & Download” step and click “Start Removing Silence”. The tool will detect silent segments in each video and stitch together the kept segments.
Preview and download: After processing is complete, you can preview the first 6 results. Individual files can be downloaded separately, or you can click “Download All Results as ZIP” to get all processed videos and processing reports.

FAQ

A: For voice narration, course recordings, and talking-head videos, you can start with the default -38dB. If there is a lot of background noise, increase it to around -34dB; if the speaker’s voice is quiet, lower it to around -45dB to avoid accidentally removing low-volume content.

A: Common causes include background sounds, breathing, keyboard noise, or ambient noise still present during pauses, with the volume not falling below the silence threshold. You can increase the silence threshold appropriately, or shorten the minimum silence length and analyze again.

A: You can increase the “silence padding time,” for example to 0.15 seconds to 0.3 seconds, so a small buffer is kept at the beginning and end of each removed silent section. If the speaking pace is slow, you can also increase the minimum silence length.

A: Yes. You can select multiple videos at once. The interface only displays the first 20 files for review, but processing will cover all selected files. After processing is complete, you can download a ZIP archive.

A: The tool removes the time segments corresponding to silence and stitches the remaining clips back together, so the total video duration will be shorter. The visual content will be trimmed in sync with the timeline, and the output quality depends on the selected video quality and resolution settings.

A: Not recommended. Silence detection relies on the audio track in the video. If the file has no readable audio track, it cannot determine which sections are silent. We recommend using video files with sound.

A: By default, the original file name and the selected output format are used. If duplicate names occur during batch processing, the tool automatically appends a number to the file name to avoid overwriting existing results.

A: First, check whether the video can play normally and whether it contains an audio track, then try lowering the output resolution, switching to MP4 format, increasing the minimum silence length, or processing in batches. The processing report in the ZIP will record successful files and reasons for failure.
