Software Usage Instructions

Select image files: Click “Select Images” or “Select Folder,” or drag images into the upload area. Common formats such as JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and BMP are supported, and multiple files can be selected in batches.
Set the dithering algorithm: Choose from Floyd-Steinberg, Atkinson, Jarvis, Stucki, Burkes, Sierra, Bayer ordered dithering, random threshold, or color quantization only.
Adjust color parameters: Use adaptive color picking, grayscale dithering, RGB level quantization, preset palettes, or custom palettes, and set the number of colors.
Configure output options: Choose PNG, JPG, WebP, BMP, or prioritize the original format for output. You can set quality, transparent area fill, brightness, contrast, saturation, and the longest side limit.
Save frequently used settings: Click “Save Settings” to keep the current parameters, so you can reuse them directly when processing similar images later.
Start processing and download: After entering the “Preview Download” step, click “Start Processing Images.” Once processing is complete, you can preview the first 20 results and download all results as a ZIP.

FAQ

A: Image dithering is suitable for creating retro pixel art, low-color images, black-and-white halftone images, early computer graphics, handheld console screen styles, and printed grain effects.

A: Floyd-Steinberg produces fine textures and is suitable for photos; Atkinson has more noticeable grain and is suitable for retro black-and-white effects; Jarvis and Stucki are good for preserving details; Bayer ordered dithering creates regular grid textures and is suitable for pixel art and stylized design.

A: 2 to 4 colors are suitable for black-and-white or strong retro effects, 6 to 16 colors are suitable for pixel art and low-color images, and more than 32 colors can preserve more of the original image’s tonal detail, making the dithering texture softer.

A: Adaptive color picking generates colors based on the image content, making it more suitable for photos; preset palettes use fixed colors, such as black and white, handheld green scale, CGA four-color, etc., making them more suitable for batches of images with a consistent style.

A: Dithering algorithms need to calculate pixel by pixel and diffuse errors, so large images use more memory and CPU. We recommend setting a longest-side limit or processing large numbers of images in batches.

A: The results will preserve the original file names as much as possible. If duplicate names appear in the batch, the system will append a number to the file name to prevent result files from overwriting each other.
