Software Instructions

Select audio files: Click the “Select audio files” area, or drag audio into the tool. Common audio formats such as MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A, and AAC are supported. When selecting files in batches, the interface displays the first 20 files, and all selected files will be processed.
Load sample audio: If you don’t have any material yet, click “Load sample audio” to preview how different distortion parameters sound.
Select an effect preset: You can use presets such as warm saturation, tube overdrive, rock distortion, Fuzz thickening, Lo-Fi coloration, vocal edge, low-end thickening, and digital clipping as parameter starting points.
Select a distortion type:
- Soft clipping: Smoother clipping edges, suitable for subtle saturation, vocal edge, and warm tones.
- Hard clipping: More direct waveform truncation, suitable for bright digital distortion with obvious grit.
- Overdrive: Simulates the saturation of a pushed amplifier, suitable for guitar, bass, and synths.
- Fuzz: Denser distortion grain, suitable for heavy tones and experimental sound design.
Adjust core parameters:
- Input drive: Controls the gain before the signal enters the distortion curve. Higher values create more obvious clipping.
- Distortion amount: Controls the strength of the clipping curve, affecting harmonics, grit, and compression.
- Dry/wet mix: Controls the balance between the original and effected sound. Lower values preserve more original clarity.
- Output volume: Controls the overall volume after processing to avoid being too loud or too quiet.
- Tone bias: Negative values sound warmer and more low-frequency-focused; positive values sound brighter and more high-frequency-focused.
- Low cut and high cut: Used to clean up muddy low frequencies and harsh high frequencies.
- Bit-depth coloration: Adds a rough, vintage, or Lo-Fi texture.
Set output options: Choose the output sample rate and number of result previews, and enable automatic normalization, oversampled clipping, and short fade-in/out as needed.
Save settings: Click “Save settings” to save the current parameters, making it easy to continue using the same configuration next time.
Start processing: After entering the “Process & Download” step, you can click “Process first file for preview” to check the effect first, or click “Apply distortion effect” to batch process all files.
Preview and download: After processing is complete, you can preview the result and download individual WAV files. For multiple files, click “Download all results (ZIP)” to download them as a package. Output file names will reuse the original file names whenever possible, and numbers will be added automatically to distinguish duplicate names.

FAQ

A: Soft clipping makes the waveform edges smoother and sounds gentler; hard clipping truncates the waveform more directly and sounds brighter; overdrive leans toward the saturation of a pushed amplifier; Fuzz adds more obvious grit and thickness.

A: The dry/wet mix controls the balance between the original sound and the effected sound. For vocals or podcasts, start at 30%-50%; for guitar or synths, start at 60%-80%, then increase it further if you want a stronger granular texture.

A: Distortion changes peak levels and loudness. You can enable “Auto Normalize” to keep the output peak stable, or manually adjust “Output Volume.” If the sound is muffled or harsh, adjust it together with low-cut, high-cut, and tone bias settings.

A: Output files will keep the original filenames as much as possible and be exported uniformly in WAV format. If multiple files have the same name, the tool will automatically add a number to the filename to prevent overwriting.

A: You can try it on guitar, bass, drums, synths, vocal clips, and sound effect assets. The clearer the source material, the easier it is to hear parameter changes. We recommend processing the first file and listening to it before batch processing.

A: Low cut can reduce low-frequency muddiness, pops, and unwanted low-frequency energy; high cut can reduce harsh highs and a digital feel. When distortion is heavy, narrowing the frequency range appropriately usually makes it easier to achieve a stable sound.

A: Bit-depth coloration is suitable for creating Lo-Fi, vintage samples, game sound effects, or a rough texture. Values that are too high will noticeably increase grain and noise, so it is recommended to start with a lower value and listen.
