Instructions
Software Usage Instructions
- Select known conditions: In the parameter combinations, choose an input method such as base radius plus height, base diameter plus height, base radius plus slant height, base circumference plus height, or base area plus height.
- Enter parameter values: Fill in the length or area values according to the current input items. Radius, height, diameter, circumference, and slant height must use the same length unit.
- Set calculation options: Select the length unit, number of decimal places, and value of pi; enable calculation steps, expanded parameters, and diagram labels as needed.
- Use sample data: Click “Sample Data” to load a set of cone parameters to view the calculation format and result display.
- Start calculation: Click “Calculate and View Results”, and the tool will output the cone volume, base area, lateral area, surface area, slant height, base circumference, and unit conversions.
- Save and export: Click “Save Settings” to keep your current parameter preferences; on the results page, you can copy the results, copy formulas, or download the calculation report.
FAQ
A: Yes. The same set of cone parameters should use the same length unit, such as all centimeters or all meters, so the volume unit will correspond to cubic centimeters or cubic meters.
A: Select “Base Diameter + Height”. The tool will first convert the radius using r=d÷2, then calculate the volume by substituting it into V=(1/3)×π×r²×h.
A: Yes. After selecting a parameter combination that includes slant height, the tool will first find the height using h=√(l²-r²). Note that the slant height must be greater than the base radius.
A: Lateral area only calculates the curved surface of the cone, with the formula πrl; surface area includes both the base and the side, with the formula πr²+πrl.
A: For everyday study and checking homework, you can choose 3.14 or 3.1416; when you need more significant digits, you can choose Math.PI.
A: These are volume conversion results, useful for checking capacity estimates, material quantities, and different unit requirements.
