Instructions

Software Usage Instructions

Select the main folder: Click the "Browse" button and select the folder containing the video files to be processed. If you need to process videos in subfolders, check the "Traverse subdirectories" option.
Select the save directory: Click the "Browse" button and select where to save the split video clips. Each original video will generate a separate subfolder to store its split results.
Adjust detection parameters:
- Adaptive Threshold: Adaptive detection threshold. The lower the value, the more sensitive the detection. Default: 3.0
- Content Threshold: Content change detection threshold. The lower the value, the more sensitive the detection. Default: 27.0
- Min Scene Length: Scene length (frames), used to filter out overly short scene clips
Merge overly short scenes (optional): After checking this option, you can set the minimum merge duration. The system will automatically merge overly short scenes with the previous scene to reduce fragments caused by incorrect cuts.
Start processing: Click the "Start" button to begin batch video splitting. The processing progress will be displayed in real time in the progress bar and log area.
View results: After processing is complete, view the split video clips in the save directory. Each clip is named in scene order (such as scene_1.mp4, scene_2.mp4).

FAQ

A: The software supports mainstream video formats, including MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, FLV, WMV, M4V, etc. It is recommended to use MP4 format encoded with H.264 for better compatibility and processing speed.

A: If there are too many split scenes (over-segmentation), you can appropriately increase the values of Adaptive Threshold and Content Threshold; if obvious shot transitions are missed, you can appropriately decrease these two threshold values. You can also increase Min Scene Length to filter out overly short clips.

A: If the video was shot in a single take, or if the visual changes between scenes are not obvious (such as a fade transition), the cut points may not be detected. You can try lowering the detection threshold, or note that scene detection is inherently not suitable for single-take videos.

A: In some cases, the algorithm may mistakenly split the same shot into multiple segments, creating many fragments that are only 1–2 seconds long. Enable this feature and set the minimum merge duration (such as 1.5 seconds), and the system will automatically merge these overly short segments with the previous scene to produce a more reasonable segmentation result.

A: Video scene detection and splitting require significant CPU and memory resources. Recommendations: 1) close other resource-intensive programs; 2) process large numbers of files in batches; 3) be patient when processing very large video files, and check the log area to view the current processing progress.

A: The software uses FFmpeg for re-encoding and splitting, with the libx264 encoder and a CRF value set to 20, which maintains high video quality. Re-encoding ensures that each clip can play independently and normally, avoiding issues in some players where only the first few seconds are played.

A: No. All video processing is completed on your local computer. Video files are not uploaded to any server, fully protecting your privacy and data security.
