Software Usage Instructions

Select the main video to process: Click the "Browse Files" or "Browse Folder" button to select the main video that needs a picture-in-picture overlay. You can select a single video, multiple videos, or a folder, or drag files in directly. Separate multiple paths with English semicolons (;). Check "Traverse Subdirectories" to process videos at all levels within the selected folder.
Select the picture-in-picture asset folder: Here you need to select a "folder", not a single asset file. Place picture-in-picture assets with the same names as the main videos in the folder. Assets can be videos or images (PNG/JPG, etc.); transparent PNG backgrounds will be preserved.
Set the save directory: Select the output folder for the processed results. It is recommended to use an empty folder to avoid confusion with existing files.
Configure basic parameters:
- Picture-in-picture position: Position using nine-grid keywords, such as top right, center, bottom left, etc.
- Scale ratio and margins: Set the picture-in-picture scaling percentage relative to the main video width and the margin pixels
- Opacity, rounded corners, and border: Adjust the picture-in-picture opacity, rounded-corner cropping, and border width and color
- Output format and encoding: Select formats such as MP4, MOV, WebM, as well as the encoder and quality level
Set advanced features (optional):
- Green screen keying: Remove the solid-color background from the picture-in-picture asset
- Text title overlay: Add a course title, instructor name, or descriptive text
- Fade in and fade out: Make the picture-in-picture window enter and exit more naturally
- Volume and smart ducking: Adjust the volumes of the main video and picture-in-picture; when the picture-in-picture has audio, the background audio of the main video is automatically lowered
Pre-check and preview: Click "Pre-check Before Processing" to confirm the number of matched pairs and skipped items, and click "Preview Effect" to view styles such as position, size, rounded corners, and border.
Start processing: After confirming everything is correct, click the start button. The tool will process all successfully matched videos concurrently with multiple tasks, and the progress bar and real-time log will display the processing status simultaneously.

FAQ

A: The tool automatically matches files by file name (excluding the extension). For example, "Course 01.mp4" in the main video folder will be matched with "Course 01.mp4" or "Course 01.png" in the picture-in-picture asset folder as the overlay asset. The asset folder supports recursive scanning, so assets placed in subdirectories can also be matched.

A: Main videos with no same-name asset found will not cause an error. They will be automatically skipped and counted in the "Skipped (No Same-Name Asset)" statistics. It is recommended to click "Pre-check Before Processing" before processing to confirm the number of matched pairs and skipped items before starting.

A: Yes. Picture-in-picture sources support both videos and images (PNG, JPG, BMP, WebP, etc.) and are commonly used for fixed logos or corner badges. PNG transparent backgrounds will be preserved. If video and image sources with the same file name both exist, the video source will be used first.

A: When the picture-in-picture source is a person or animation on a green screen or solid-color background, enabling green screen keying can remove the solid-color background and blend the subject into the main video. You can adjust the removal range and edge feathering to achieve a more natural overlay effect.

A: After enabling smart ducking in mixing mode, when the picture-in-picture track (such as instructor narration) has audio, the main video's background audio will be automatically lowered. When the instructor pauses, the background audio returns, making the voice clearer. The amount of reduction can be adjusted as needed.

A: Video decoding, scaling overlays, and re-encoding consume significant CPU or GPU resources. Recommendations: 1) appropriately lower the output quality level; 2) process in batches; 3) if you have a dedicated graphics card, select the corresponding hardware encoder; 4) set the number of concurrent tasks reasonably, as concurrency should not be too high when using hardware encoding.

A: No. When files with the same name are encountered, a numeric suffix is automatically appended to generate a unique file name, and the original directory structure can be preserved. It is recommended to output to an empty folder for easier organization of the processing results.
